This course introduces participants to the reasons why accidents in the workplace need to be reported. It focuses upon the role of the employee and supervisor in contributing to the accident reporting and investigation process.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
As a result of this
program, participants should be able to:
• Describe the components of an
accident reporting and investigation system;
• Define the terminology
relating to “accidents”;
• Discuss the purpose for an organisation to report
accidents; and
• Describe the process to be followed for immediate accident
response and reporting requirements.
This program provides an essential platform which underpins the
skills required by those involved in accident investigations.
The course will
prove to be beneficial for in-house training and can readily be customised to
reflect an organisation’s reporting procedure and associated paperwork.
ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION (ADVANCED)
A two-day course focusing on more in-depth analysis using the UK’s Health and Safety Executive Model is also available. Due to the nature of the analysis required, this methodology is suitable for the more serious investigations carried out by senior management. This course aligns with Diploma uit BSBOHS508A – Participate in the Investigation of Incidents, which is a Unit of Competence from the Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety Qualification (BSB51604).
ASSESSING SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
An Accredited course in Assessment of Occupational Safety and Health Systems
OBJECTIVE
This course aims to provide
participants with the skills and knowledge to develop and manage the
coordination and review of an Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) System that
meets the requirements of a specified assessment protocol. It is designed for
persons who are involved in the coordination, implementation and measurement of
safety and health management in the workplace. It has specific application for
organisations considering using the AS4801/AS4804 Accreditation process.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
On completion of this
course, participants should be able to:
• Demonstrate an understanding of the
legislative requirements;
• Define the main components of a simple
system
• Identify the key elements for managing an OSH System;
• Discuss
the relationship between hazards and OSH system omissions and failures;
•
Outline the purpose, structure and methodology for assessing the OSH Management
System; and
• Review an OSH Management System against AS4801/AS4804 and
AS4360.
RISK MANAGEMENT ESSENTIALS
The basis of a successful Occupational Safety and Health program is that hazards in the workplace can be identified and controlled in accordance with the risks they pose. This process is an essential part of the safety systems required in WA Occupational Safety and Health regulations. This program focuses on the role of all employees and emphasises the need for their involvement in the process of managing workplace hazards. It has particular relevance to those who have had little or no previous Occupational Safety and Health training.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
As a result of this
course, participants will be able to:
• Discuss the various types of hazards
that exist in the workplace;
• Apply the techniques of hazard identification
to a workplace inspection;
• Assess the level of risk posed by identified
hazards using a risk assessment matrix;
• Identify critical tasks that
require specific risk control strategies;
• Suggest effective hazard control
techniques by application of the hierarchy of control; and
• Conduct a Task
Impact Analysis and develop Safe Work Procedures.
This course provides the foundation knowledge for compilation of a critical task inventory.
