INJURY MANAGEMENT CO-ORDINATOR COURSE
This
course is specifically designed for people who have responsibility (either
directly or indirectly) for injured workers in their organisation. It provides
the participant with an introduction to the rights and obligations enshrined in
the Workers' Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981 and its
regulations for all parties involved in the workers’ compensation and injury
management process.
The course will also provide the participant with an understanding through practical application of the legal requirements involved in the injury management process. The course explores the important issues of workplace culture, managing difficult workers’ compensation cases and data analysis and reporting. Participants will be provided with a well rounded educational experience culminating in optional assessments which are innovative and applicable to the workplace.
Injury management in the workplace is a win-win philosophical concept which, if implemented and adhered to, can provide any benefits to the injured worker and their employer. For the employer, none more so than downward pressure on their workers' compensation premium.
OPTIONAL ASSESSMENT
Participants can, if
they wish to do so, provide a portfolio of assessable components related to the
IMC course of study. The portfolio must be provided for assessment within
four weeks of completion of the IMC course. Successful completion of the
assessment components would provide fulfilment of the following two National
Units of Competency:
• FNSWCMP401A - Plan and implement rehabilitation and
return to work strategies;
and
• BSBHR509A - Manage rehabilitation/return
to work programs.
A successful participant would receive a Statement of
Attainment evidencing competency in these two units. A successful participant
would then be entitled to use the two units towards partial completion of the
eight units required to achieve a Diploma of OH&S (BSB51604),
therefore, leaving a balance of six units to be completed. This balance is made
up of five core units and one elective.
WORKER’S COMPENSATION
and INJURY MANAGEMENT for EMPLOYERS - Short Course
It's a legal requirement for all employer organisations
in WA to have an Injury Management System. This Workers' Compensation and
Injury Management Short Course for Employers is specifically designed for
employers who wish to understand and meet their workers’ compensation legal
obligations. Injury management in the workplace is not only a legal obligation
but also a win-win philosophical concept which, if implemented and adhered to,
can provide many benefits to the employer and also the injured worker.
For the employer, some of the major benefits of committing to
the injury management process are:
• A well managed injured worker, in most
cases, can be advantageous in applying downward pressure on the workers’
compensation premium.
• An experienced and valued member of the
workforce gets back to their full pre-injury duties sooner, rather than
later.
• Assists in the development of a positive workplace culture.
Employers will be provided with a well rounded educational experience in the workers' compensation and injury management legal process. The educational experience includes two optional multiple choice self-assessments provided at appropriate intervals during the course. Participants will receive an attendance certificate on completion of the course.
